Insurer appoints David Sweeney as director of firm's personal lines division

Sterling Insurance Group has appointed David Sweeney as director - head of the firm’s personal lines division.

He will take over the household business centre responsibilities, as well as the running of the broker sales team and will sit on Sterling's main board.

Sweeney joined Sterling at the beginning of June 2007 from Hiscox where he was the UK development director responsible for managing its UK regional branches and key broker relationships.

Prior to this Sweeney was the regional manager for Independent Insurance in Manchester after being promoted from his role as customer service manager.His early career was spent with Royal Insurance.

Sterling managing director John Blundell commented: “The addition of David to Sterling Insurance reflects our commitment to supporting our continuing growth.

"We are delighted therefore that David will be joining us to lead our personal lines area as he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
