Motorcycle intermediary Carole Nash Insurance Consultants has launched a ‘talking claims’ service which it said it expected to cut claims settlement times by up to ten days.

Under the new service, policyholders can call a dedicated freephone number and report details of their claim, ending the need for a claim form to be posted to the client for completion.

Once details of the claim are taken, the form is sent electronically to the underwriter and either by post of email to the policyholder.

The service is also available for Carole Nash’s classic car policies and its motor book, which currently accounts for a third of the intermediary’s new business.

“This is an excellent technique for reducing claim settlement times, improving customer satisfaction and assisting underwriters. Full details of a claim form can now be with an insurer within minutes rather than days,” said head of claims, Andrew Scott.

“Our underwriters have reacted very positively to this initiative as it helps reduce their administrative burden and costs.

“We expect policyholders to be equally upbeat as, in concert with other claims handling techniques we already employ, we are making the whole claims procedure swifter and less painful. In most cases they will be able to have a claim dealt with in a single, free, call.”
