Restorex and document salvage experts, Document S.O.S, have undertaken a salvage operation for a civil engineering company whose south London premises were severely damaged by fire this week.

The team removed 900 crates of charred, smoke and water-damaged paperwork, despite asbestos contamination on the site. The salvage operation caused minimal business disruption for the company.

Most paperwork was able to be reinstated but many documents, including charts, plans and financial information, were beyond repair.

Georgine Thorburn, managing director of Document S.O.S, commented: "Co-operation between contractors undoubtedly speeds up the restoration and reinstatement process and can even reduce the insurance claim."
