Insurance veteran joins Coventry-based broker

Business deal work handshake people

Personal lines broker, The Policy Shop, has hired Andy Briscoe as non-executive chairman in a bid to grow the company in its core areas of business.

Briscoe was previously managing director of AA Insurance Services, before he moved into private equity and led the acquisition of the RAC by the Carlyle group. He also held senior positions at BUPA and American Express.

Briscoe said: “The Policy Shop is a sound company and I am very much looking forward to working with them to develop the business.

“I see the non-standard market growing considerably over the next few years. In fact, I see a situation where in the next 20 years there is no such thing as standard.

The Policy Shop managing director Sean Byrne added: “We are delighted that Andy has come on board as non-executive chairman.

“Andy’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge will provide us with the strategic direction needed to steer the business and inject the necessary expertise we need to take the business to the next level and provide a platform for growth.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
