Norwich Union (NU) director of distribution development Tim Rolfe has confirmed he will leave the insurer at the end of the month.
"It is true that I am leaving NU," Rolfe said. "It wasn't something I had planned to do and I do not have another position to go to."
He declined to reveal the details behind his departure but said that the need for him to relocate in order to work full time in the Norwich office had been a contributing factor.
Rolfe, who lives south of London, had been dividing his time between NU's Norwich and Leadenhall Street offices.
He dismissed suggestions that his departure followed a failed bid for a seat on the board of Norwich Union Insurance as "wild".
Rolfe said he was keen to remain in the industry. NU declined to comment.
