Towergate has acquired Bury broker Alliance Management.
Alliance will continue to be led by CEO John McLaren-Stewart. All 30 staff and directors making the move.
Towergate said Alliance will work alongside the current Towergate team in Bury St Edmunds "to fulfil ambitious expansion plans in the region and to grow Towergate's presence in East Anglia".
Alliance controls premiums of £10m, with a strong commercial business and specialist niches including asbestos surveying, crisis management and a fine dining scheme which boasts over half of the UK's Top 10 restaurants as clients.
Towergate executive chairman, Peter Cullum, said: "This is one of those deals that was irresistible. We have an excellent operation in Bury St Edmunds and the team there have really shown great character as we seek to grow the business organically and by local hand-picked acquisitions."
John McLaren-Stewart said: "I have known Peter for many years, so we are very familiar with Towergate's track record and the opportunities for our team to fulfil their full potential. Alliance has enjoyed a healthy competition with the former Country Mutual operation in Bury, and now we look forward to working with our new colleagues – our combined levels of expertise and client service will be very tough to beat."
