Cage joins from Chubb Europe

Rob Cage, Travelers

Travelers has appointed Rob Cage as chief underwriting officer for its Europe operations.

Cage, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry, will report to Travelers Europe chief executive, Sean Genden.

In his role, Cage is responsible for continuing the development and implementation of Travelers European underwriting strategies. He will partner with the senior leaders of its two European operations: Travelers Syndicate Management Ltd (Syndicate 5000) and Travelers Insurance Company Ltd.

Genden said:  “We’re thrilled that Rob has joined us. He is a very well-known and respected market leader with a reputation for excellence in commercial lines underwriting.”

Cage joins Travelers from Chubb Europe, where he was most recently the active underwriter of Chubb’s syndicate, having led its formation in 2009. Prior to this, he had worked for Chubb since 2003 as both European marine underwriting manager and UK commercial manager.

He began his career in insurance in 1980 as a yachts claims adjuster for Eagle Star, followed by underwriting and business development roles with ERC Frankona and Wurtembergishe. During 2002 to 2003 he was a Lloyd’s supervisor for the Financial Services Authority.

Cage said: “Travelers is a strong brand and a well-regarded insurance operation. It is an excellent opportunity and I look forward to working with the Travelers team.”
