Accidents and absenteeism are not bad luck – influencing people's behaviour can prevent them from happening.

This is the basis of a workshop to be run at this year's Ferma forum.

Kappa Packaging risk manager Bert Fens and Hay Group senior consultant Henk Kuijt will run the workshop.

Kuijt says accidents and absenteeism are often seen as bad luck, but his workshop will explore the relationships between incidents and why people “create” unwanted outcomes.

“We will show how senior management unconsciously stimulates this unwanted product and we'll show ways of achieving a structural reduction of it,” he said.
