An underwriter from Axa Re Life has earned the dubious privilege of losing more money than anyone else playing Insurance Times' hit online game, Virtualia.

While 612 of his underwriter-colleagues have not lost a penny, the (un-named) underwriter is £7.25m down.

Virtualia is a fantasy island where players are invited to underwrite various risks. Players lose money when a big risk occurs and they have to pay the claim.

The latest information on the island's developments can be found on our website, www.insurancetimes.co.uk.

So far, 200 players have made a loss in the game which runs until next week. The prize for the most successful underwriter is a case of champagne.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
