Zurich Insurance and Zurich American, insurers of Sony corp, have said they will not pay any damages for the hacking of the Sony PlayStation network in April.

Sony previously asked that both arms of Zurich “defend and potentially indemnify them” from claims, class actions and probes, according to Bloomberg.

However, Zurich American has claimed in a recent lawsuit that it is not required to cover any costs coming from the hacking.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan's New York Supreme Court, said Zurich American and Zurich Insurance “are not obligated to defend or indemnify any of the Sony defendants for the claims asserted."

The April hacking attack affected more than 100m customer accounts, and is expected to cost the company 14bn yen (around £106.1m).
