The ABI has appointed Nick Starling as its new director of general insurance.

Starling joins the ABI from the Health and Safety Executive, where he is currently director of policy programmes, it said.

ABI chairman of general insurance management committee Dennis Holt said: “It has never been more important to help businesses and individuals to manage and understand the risks they face.

“Nick's experience in one of the most senior roles at the HSE will be invaluable to the ABI, its members and our customers.”

Starling will begin his new role with the ABI on 4 January 2005.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
