It was good to see the insurance industry performing well at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester last week.
Among the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers competing in some of the more fringe events was Shirley Page.
Until a few months ago, Page worked in the Aldgate office of AXA as PA to head of personal lines underwriting Kevin Sinclair.
Now retired, Page has excelled in the English lawn bowls women's four, winning a gold medal - two better than the last time around in Kuala Lumpur when the team won bronze.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
