Michael Mendelowitz has left Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) to join Norton Rose as head of insurance and reinsurance.
Mendelowitz has been a partner at BLG's reinsurance and international risks team for several years.
He said: "I shall be moving with mixed feelings. By far the greatest part of my career has been spent at BLG and I have built up real affection as well as respect for many of my colleagues. After nearly 20 years, however, I feel that I need a fresh challenge and the opportunity that has come my way to lead and build up a practice in a new environment, particularly at a firm of the quality of Norton Rose, is one that I cannot turn down."
Senior BLG partner Richard Dedman said: "Over his many years with us, Michael has played an important role in the building of our market-leading reinsurance practice as a member of our reinsurance and international risks team. We shall miss him but we understand that this is an attractive opportunity for Michael, which is not available at BLG, to head up a team in his area of practice."
