More than half of employees think bosses should be working to improve their employee's health, revealed a survey from Standard Life Healthcare.
Most of the people questioned in the 2003 Annual Consumer Attitudes survey said effort from employers would cut stress levels and sick leave while boosting productivity and general wellbeing in the workplace.
Stephen Bevan, director of research at The Work Foundation said: "Employers already have a legal duty of care over the psychological wellbeing of their staff yet virtually none are carrying out risk analysis or putting preventative measures in place."
"This research highlights growing concern over mental ill-health in the workplace and its economic and human cost."
The Health and Safety Executive recently launched a manager's guide to work related stress called `Real Solutions, Real People' as part of a campaign to persuade bosses that stress could seriously affect a business.
