Brightside Group hopes to increase sales by advertising on Met Office web site

Brightside is to become the first private sector enterprise to advertise on the Met Office web site.

The group said that advertising insurance products through the ‘eGroup’ brand under eLife, eHome, eVan, eCommercial, eCar and eBike on the Met Office website gives Brightside and its associated businesses the "potential to reach one of the largest audiences through a public sector website in the UK."

The Met Office site attracts three million unique users per month but during the recent severe weather has received more than 19 million visits in one day. As online sponsors Brightside have homepage branding, skyscraper and MPU adverts with text links across the site.

Brightside chief executive Paul Chase-Gardener said: “We are delighted with this collaboration and believe that this move gives us a real competitive edge. One of our key objectives is to increase online sales. Through this collaboration with the Met Office we are confident that we will be meeting the needs of the online generation who are used to buying at their convenience and retaining control of their policy needs.

“It is notable that we are the first online sponsorship partner for Met Office. We are looking for innovative ways to compete in the online market place to capture the power of the internet both as a route to market and an increasingly familiar way of buying products and services.”
