Brit Insurance has closed its open share offer and has received acceptances for over a third of new shares.

The company will hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on October 17 to consider the offer.

Under the Open Offer, valid acceptances have been received from shareholders in respect of 115,841,245 new ordinary shares. The offers represent approximately 36.3% of the Offer Shares.

A spokesman said: "Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for the New Ordinary Shares to be admitted to the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to the London Stock Exchange plc for the New Ordinary Shares to be admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange."
