Retiring AXA chief operating officer to join Acturis Group Board

Max Carruthers

Acturis has announced that Max Carruthers will be joining its group board as a non-executive director.

Carruthers is set to retire as the chief operating officer of AXA Commercial Lines and Personal Intermediary at the end of the year.

He was previously the operations director of Towergate and chairman of Open GI. 

Acturis co-chief executive Theo Duchen said:  “We are very excited that someone of Max’s calibre is joining the Group Board of Acturis as a non-executive director. Max brings a wealth of insurance industry experience and is recognised as one of the foremost technology and operational experts in the general insurance market. He is a leading industry figure and will be hugely helpful in guiding Acturis through its next phase of growth – both domestic and international.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
