As the FSA's mystery shopping exercises get underway, Backchat hears a cautionary tale.

One mischievous broker pretends to be the FSA conducting a mystery shopping exercise on a rival. The prank goes well until the broker inadvertently lets slip a piece of information that alerts the rival not only to the hoax but also to the identity of the hoaxer.

The rival, of course, has recorded the call 'for training purposes' and promptly sends the tape to the FSA, which not surprisingly takes a very dim view. Naughty, naughty.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
