One protester said that if the insurance industry is to ’have a future at all’, it needs to ’play its part in building a safer and more sustainable future for us all’
More than a dozen protesters gathered outside Marsh’s office in Manchester in an insurance-related protest.
The broker’s office in Belvedere, Booth Street, was targeted by supporters of Extinction Rebellion’s Insure our Survival campaign on 10 July 2025.
The protest was related to fossil fuels, with protesters calling for the support of such projects to be ended.
They also held a large Stop Eacop (East African Crude Oil Pipeline) banner. Eacop is a pipeline that is set to transport oil produced from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania.
One protester said: “We are already seeing the catastrophic effects of climate chaos on our TV screens.
“Instead of displacing poor people to pipe oil across Africa so that big oil can make even more money, we should be leaving it in the ground. Our message is simple – oil companies need to stop drilling and start paying.”

This is not the first time Marsh has been targeted by protesters this year, with a protest being held at the Manchester office in January.
