Chartis has announced the appointment of Mark Heath as head of aerospace for the UK.

He will report to Chartis UK’s executive director, commercial lines Jacqueline McNamee and Chartis Europe head of aerospace Andrew Trundle.

“The Aerospace division is one of our market leading franchises, where we are making significant investments in our underwriting and service expertise,” said McNamee.

“I am delighted that Mark has taken on this role, where he will have responsibility for the continued development and execution of our strategies to drive profitable growth and create market differentiation in this dynamic industry sector.

“The fact that this is an internal appointment underlines the depth of talent within Chartis and our commitment to providing exciting opportunities for our people to grow and advance their careers.”

Mark has 24 years of insurance experience in the London market. He joined Chartis in December 2008 as managing director of Cat Excess Liability’s London branch. More recently, he was promoted to chief operating officer at Cat Excess’ Bermuda, US and London operations.

Prior to joining Chartis, he held a number of senior roles at Aon, including managing director of its Asia Pacific property and casualty London unit and Head of International Casualty. He also led the London office’s North American property, casualty and energy combined team, the global liability division, alternative risk transfer and captive reinsurance units.
