Cancellation of flights unlikely to be covered

Cancellation of flights is unlikely to be covered under travellers’ insurance policies, the Association of British Insurers said.

People should check their policies to find out full details.

Snow damage to buildings may be covered and motor accidents caused by snow or ice will be covered under policies.

Nick Starling, the ABI’s director of general insurance and health, said: “Severe weather conditions cause great disruption and inconvenience, and insurance is there to help soften the blow. People who have suffered flight delays or damage to their home or vehicle due to the weather should contact their insurance company for advice.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
