Hyperion-owned MGA also appoints chief operating officer

Hyperion-owned MGA Dual has hired Markel’s Hazel Beveridge as chief actuary and strategic director.

At Markel, Beveridge was head of actuarial – capital and reserving. She has also worked at Swiss Re and accounting firm KPMG.

In addition, Dual has promoted finance director Rinku Patel to chief operating officer. Patel will continue to lead Dual’s finance function.

Also, chief underwriting officer Paul Ferris will take on the additional responsibility of chairing the Dual’s risk committee.

Commenting on Beveridge’s appointment, Dual deputy chief executive Shane Doyle said: “What has always been unique about Dual is our long-standing relationships with our capacity providers, built on a mutual desire to consistently outperform the market. However, we do not take the capital entrusted to us by our capacity providers lightly, and Hazel will bring considerable experience and expertise to the team to help ensure that any capital entrusted to us receives the maximum return that we are able to deliver.”

On Patel’s promotion, Doyle said: “As our global geographic and product footprint has grown, so too has the necessity that we deliver real time management information, so we are well prepared to make the right and timely decisions that are so crucial in delivering the maximum return to our carriers. Rinku is absolutely the best person to make sure these critical areas are strengthened.”
