Company will ‘significantly reduce’ UK workforce if trial succeeds

Arron Banks-owned broker Eldon is diverting all its live functions to South Africa for a trial period, the Bristol Post reported.

During the trial period, departments in Bristol affected by the trial will be closed down.

A letter from the company seen by the paper said that if the trial is successful, the Bristol-based broker will “significantly reduce” its UK workforce.

The letter added that the move had been triggered by poor results of the insurance business in 2014.

Yesterday it emerged that Eldon had put 150 jobs at risk across its business.

The company employs 500 people across its sites in Newcastle and Bristol.

According to the Bristol Post, the letter said: “The most robust and prudent way for the company to test this new way of working is to divert all live functions in its entirety to South Africa for the period of this trial.

“This will ultimately establish if this proposal can succeed against rigorous and demanding service level agreements that will be scrutinised over the coming weeks.”
