Equifax has been selected to host and manage a database to identify money-laundering activities.

Regulatory Datacorp has selected Equifax to host and manage the database to monitor high-risk individuals.

Equifax has held a long-term strategy of developing value-added products and services to meet emerging market needs.

The Global Regulatory Information Database (GRIDSM) will enable automated checks on entities and individuals.

The GRID database represents the first industry-wide attempt to comply with new financial verification procedures.

Equifax Chairman Thomas Chapman said: "The agreement with RDC to manage the GRID database is a hallmark for Equifax and a tremendous leap forward into safety and security markets.

"Equifax was selected because of our extensive in managing data, allowing us to provide an invaluable service in protecting national security, a critical matter in these uncertain times

The database will be managed through our Compliance Data Centre subsidiary leveraging our October 2000 acquisition of that company and its 25 years of experience in managing public data," he added.
