SEIB's Bob Pluck died three weeks ago

South Essex Insurance Brokers' sales director Bob Pluck died from a heart attack on Monday 31 May, aged 58, the company has announced.

Pluck joined SEIB 30 years ago as a motor clerk, having previously been with NEM, working his way up to sales director of the company.

Deputy chairman Barry Fehler said: "Bob was a good man to have on the team. Never frightened to voice his opinion and always ready to admit others’ could be right; he was understanding of others yet couldn’t abide those that (in his words) used ‘rectum protectum’ as a business excuse.

"It’s an expression that I will always remember as it sums up some of the ills of this industry today.

“He will be missed. He was looking forward to retirement and was grooming Suzy Middleton as his successor. She will take over his role, shortly.

"Others will miss him too. Over 200 turned up at the funeral including many industry figures itself the final accolade.”

Pluck was a Tottenham supporter and leaves a widow, Linda, and three sons.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
