105 technicians on hand to install boxes

Coverbox, the new pay-as-you-drive (PAYD) insurance product, has appointed 105 approved fitters in preparation for its launch.

The UK-wide network will install the Cobra-developed GPS system in vehicles. Wunelli, the company behind Coverbox, already have six insurers onboard for the PAYD launch next month.

Paul Stacy, Wunelli managing director said: “The final pieces of technology and administration systems are in place, which means we’re just about ready to go.

“The final element was confirming a network of technicians and fitters to install the box, and working with Cobra, we have identified and agreed arrangements with 105 of them, which will mean we’re able to provide fast and efficient nationwide service.”

Coverbox works by having its customers declaring how many miles they expect to drive and what times they tend to drive them, and then forecasts how much - on a per mile basis - their insurance will cost.

Coverbox monitors customers’ usage and charges according to mileage covered in off-peak, peak or “super-peak” periods.

Coverbox technology means customers will also have the additional peace of mind of theft tracking – in virtually all cases Coverbox can track and locate the car if it is stolen.
