Hardy Underwriting Group has appointed Barbara Merry as chief executive to succeed Peter Hardy.

Hardy has been appointed non-executive chairman in succession to Nigel Ellis, who will remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Primary
Primary Insurance Group has appointed Steve Tighe to its underwriting team. He has more than 20 years' experience in the field and joins from DOR Insurance Brokers.

Travellers
Travellers Protection Services has promoted Faith Davies to sales and marketing manager. She has been with the company for ten years.

Steve Browne has been promoted to sales manager after three years at the company.

EULER Trade Indemnity
EULER Trade Indemnity announces the appointment of Paul Flanagan as director of risk and information. Flanagan takes over from Nicolas Delzant, who has returned to EULER's headquarters in Paris, France to take on the role of deputy director of group transversal risk.

Flanagan was chief financial officer at EULER Trade Indemnity from 1998. He will remain a member of the management board at the company and will report to chief executive Russell Benzies.

B&W Deloitte
B&W Deloitte has expanded its insurance practice with the appointment of two senior consultants.

Peter Farmer has joined the insurance management consultancy team and Tom Wright has joined the general insurance team.

Farmer joins B&W Deloitte from Searchlight Solutions, where he was a founding director.

Tom Wright, a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a Chartered Statistician, joins after working as a freelance consultant for five years.

MMA
Broker-only insurer MMA Insurance has appointed Ian Boys as its broker network manager. Ian has seven years' experience in developing business in the insurance industry

QBE
QBE International Insurance has appointed Adrian Giles to the property XL500 division, a portfolio of Fortune 500 and other risk managed accounts.

Giles has more than 20 years' London Market experience, mainly in non-marine underwriting. Previously, he was responsible for the New York office of PWS International.

Zurich
Roy Coppins of Zurich London has been appointed as chairman of the Joint Claims Committee and the Company and Lloyd's Adjusters' meetings.

He has worked in the market for more than 35 years, the last ten of which have been with Zurich.

Allen & Allen
Steve Barnard, general manager of the Allen & Allen Group, has extended his responsibilities by taking charge of the group's Highgate office, where he will develop a new team. Stuart Charlton has been promoted to sales manager.

BROKERS

Broker Network
The Broker Network in Harrogate has appointed Paul Clark to the new position of IT director. Clark has spent the last 11 years in strategic IT management. Prior to joining the Broker Network he was responsible for the gloabal IT infrastructure at a pharmaceutical software provider. He was IT director at Future Mortgages for two years.

Smart & Cook
Neil Thornton has become the youngest chairman of the Yorkshire and Northern region of the British Insurance Brokers Association (Biba), having spent two years as secretary. Neil is operations director at Smart & Cook Insurance Brokers in Harrogate.

Willis
Austin Baigrie has been appointed as business development executive at Willis Group's motor initiatives team.

He joins from Gateway Computers where he was sales manager.

Colonnade Direct
Broker Colonnade Direct has appointed Ancel Gornall as call centre manager. He joins from the Green Flag Group where he was responsible for outbound telesales.

LEGAL

Donns
Donns Solicitors announces expansion within its specialist field of personal injury litigation with the launch of an after the event (ATE) insurance department. Donns has appointed Sue Lawson to the newly created position of ATE co-ordinator. She joins from Litigation Protection.

DWF
North-west law firm DWF has appointed nine new solicitors. DWF HRhorizons, the human resources service, has recruited Jim Chambers from Mace & Jones, Neeta Adatia and Sarah Clayton from DLA and Leena Kapoor from Cobbetts. Dagmar Basquill joins as a professional support lawyer from Yorkshire Electricity.

Louise Scholes has joined the Wealthcare team, the wealth protection service. She joins from Mace & Jones.

Peter Horsfall joins the corporate team. He was previously at Eversheds.

The insurance team has been increased with the appointments of Catherine Shuttleworth from Beachcroft Wansbroughs and Mitchell Colville from Thompsons.

MVRA
Peter Hunt has been appointed as field operations manager at the Motor Vehicle Repairers' Association. He previously worked as chief motor engineer for Eagle Star and Zurich.

Proximo
Accident management company Proximo is expanding outside England and has announced two key appointments. Bill Keilloh joins as business development manager, Scotland. He has an impressive career history with the major UK insurers, including Norwich Union and Northern Star. Mike Coward is appointed to business development manager, Wales and West. He previously worked at General Electric and Helphire.
