Broker Heath Lambert is in talks with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Coeliac Society – an organisation catering for gluten allergy sufferers – about arranging specialist cover.

It is understood that Heath Lambert is looking at either changing the wording of existing policies or creating new policies. The plan is to provide cover for circumstances where none existed before, said a source close to the negotiations.

She said the new policies would have special clauses covering wheelchairs and their maintenance. The policies may also offer cover for drug replacement if expensive drugs are damaged or lost.

In May, Heath Lambert signed an agreement with Diabetes UK. The broker agreed to provide a range of insurance and financial service products specifically for people with diabetes. Under the agreement, critical illness cover was extended to cover illnesses connected with diabetes.

Heath Lambert was one of ten companies vying to win the account. The latest moves are part of an ongoing campaign by the broker to win new customers who could not previously obtain cover.

Heath Lambert refused to comment on the deals.
