Highway has confirmed that it has received approaches from “a number of parties” which have expressed an interest in bidding for the motor insurer.
Highway said that since a rise in its shares on Sunday it has received approaches from “a number of parties”.
It said: “Discussions are at a preliminary stage and it is too early for the board to be able to determine whether these discussions will result in any formal offer being made for the company.”
The company has been at the centre of two interest bids in the last three years. Last year it held talks with Cox about a possible bid, but the deal collapsed in April.
The deal collapsed after Cox received an approach from private equity firm Duke Street Capital.
There are reports that Duke Street Capital could seek to revive a merger deal, but sources reportedly denied the suggestion.
