Another pet-related story to complete the pet-trick

Just as it was looking impossible, in drops an email at the eleventh hour, and Backchat completes its hat-trick over the past few weeks of pet-related catastrophes.

This time, Sainsbury’s Finance promotes the importance of pet insurance after research revealed that over one million UK residents believe that they have had a pet dog or cat stolen in the last five years.

Apparently, 61% of people who have had a pet cat or dog go missing since November 2002, have never seen them again.

The breeds of dog most likely to be stolen include the English Springer Spaniel, Border Terrier, Boxer, Yorkshire Terrier and Labrador Retriever.

Backchat wonders if any pet insurers offer replacement pets?

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
