Kiln has appointed Keith Land as chief executive of its new Asian operations in Hong Kong.

The Lloyd's insurer announced last week that it was to launch Kiln Asia, which will now be headed up by Land, who has more than 25 years insurance experience, much of it in South East Asia.

He has joined the company from Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA), where he was latterly chief executive of United Arab Emirates. He has also held chief executive positions for R&SA based in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and has worked in India.

Land and his team, which currently includes five underwriters, will develop specialist business from both existing and emerging markets across the Asia region.

Kiln chief executive Edward Creasy said: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure Keith's services to run our new company in Hong Kong. His leadership, experience and professionalism will play a critical role in our plans to build and develop the Kiln brand in the Asian markets.”
