The Institute of Risk Management's (IRM) educational activities are to receive more than £100,000 of sponsorship from a range of companies including Royal & SunAlliance, Zurich, Aon, Marsh, AIRMIC and ALARM.

Chairman Mark Butterworth commented: "These organisations are all committed to the professional development of their people and to the growth of risk management learning more widely."

He added that due to the amount of sponsorship raised, the institute would be able to deliver all the revitalisation plans, including the website, he announced at the AGM in February.

The IRM admitted financial difficulties late last year after being dogged by a series of scandals. Butterworth has helped rescue the institute with various measures, including securing these lucrative sponsorships.
