Markel hires senior underwriter from QBE

Markel has appointed Andrew Carter as senior underwriter, marine and energy liability.

Carter joins Markel from QBE where he worked for 19 years, most recently as a portfolio manager for marine liability.

In his new role, Carter will be working with marine and energy liability underwriter Chris Fenn and senior ports and terminal underwriter Charles Bragg to expand the company’s business in the marine liability, energy liability and ports and terminals classes.

Divisional managing director of marine and energy Paul Jenks said: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to Markel where he will be a great asset to the team. He has held a senior position at QBE for many years and he brings a wealth of experience and contacts to the Markel team.”
