Move had been expected following AXA chief exec Paul Evan's restructure

Paul Meehan left AXA last week, seven days after chief executive Philippe Maso departed.

Director of customer experience Meehan’s exit, exclusively reported on insurancetimes.co.uk, had been widely tipped in the wake of Maso’s departure. This was the result of a corporate governance restructure led by new AXA UK chief executive Paul Evans.

Meehan had been linked with taking charge of AXA’s commercial lines business before the restructure, which created two separate divisions for commercial lines and personal lines business.

AXA is seeking a chief for its new commercial arm, while its new personal lines chief executive is Steve Hardy, previously managing director of AXA Direct.

Meehan spent more than two years at AXA, joining in 2008 after selling his broker, Smart & Cook, to the French insurer the previous year.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
