Arch Insurance Company (Europe) has named Nicholas Metcalf as director of underwriting.
Prior to his appointment to the newly created role, Metcalf was XL London Market chief executive.
Metcalf would have responsibility for directing Arch Europe's current underwriting activities and future plans, said the company.
He will report directly to Arch Europe president and chief executive Bob Van Gieson.
Van Gieson said: “The role of director of underwriting is an important addition to the Arch Europe senior management team and we are delighted to have someone of Nick's calibre to fill it.”
