Miller Pycraft is claiming to be the first loss adjuster to merge its diverse range of investigation teams into a single fraudbusting unit.

Miller Pycraft Specialist Investigations combines the company's commercial, domestic property and forensic investigations teams with its specialist motor theft and road traffic accident services.

Working from offices in Birmingham, Maidstone and Manchester, the new division of 80 is comprised of ex-police officers and specialist insurance investigators, who will also conduct undercover surveillance.

Bev FitzGerald, chief executive of Miller Pycraft, said the new division will help control claims leakage across the whole insurance industry.

He added that one of the unit's primary targets would be the investigation of criminal gangs involved in fraudulent motor claims.

Tony Smithurst, director in charge of specialist investigations, said: "We have witnessed growing market demand for a comprehensive, professional in-depth investigations service. We believe our clients will be best served by a dedicated division which will deliver unrivalled skills and forensic expertise in the investigation of property, motor, travel and creditor claims alike."
