Mitsui brings in former Chubb Ireland boss to lead expansion

Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd’s this morning said it is establishing branches in Dublin and Belfast as part of its expansion plans.

The new operation will be headed by Alan Shiel as managing director, Ireland. He was previously Ireland country manager at Chubb.

Joining him from Chubb are Cormac McNamara, who has been appointed as underwriting manager (Ireland), Greg Wilde, who will underwrite business in Northern Ireland and Scotland and David Jenkins, who joins as claims and risk engineering manager.

Mitsui Sumitomo wants to grow its presence in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
