R&SA's direct arm follows up sale of failed motor leads

Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) direct insurer More Th>n has followed up the successful sale of its failed motor leads by putting its domestic leads out to the market.

A number of brokers including BDML, Budget, Hastings, Kwik-Fit and Outright are thought to be interested in the sale that could pull in up to £1m per year for an insurer.

A market source said: "R&SA seems to be increasing its interest in selling failed leads. This sale will probably be followed up by the sale of its pet and travel leads."

Though failed leads normally retail at about £5 per quote, R&SA could be expecting significantly more than this after achieving over £8 per quote for its motor leads from Hastings.

A source said: "You normally pay a little bit more for home as they tend to stick a bit better, but we wouldn't expect to pay much more than about £6 per lead for the domestic business.

"Buying and selling failed leads is very much the fashion at the moment, but you have to be careful to make sure you know exactly what you are getting in terms of profile and volume."

More Th>n's home book is thought to be about a third of the size of its motor book, potentially generating around 150,000 failed leads per year.
