German reinsurer Munich Re has appointed John Phelan as the president and chief executive officer of its Princeton-based subsidiary American Re. The appointment will take effect on 31 March 2002.
Phelan, currently president and director of Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada (MROC), succeeds Ed Noonan.
The new head of MROC will be Kenneth Irvin, the previous executive vice president.
American Re is the third-largest non-life reinsurance company in the US market, and MROC is the leading provider in the Canadian market.
