‘Our 2025 performance reflects the exceptional efforts being carried out across the business,’ says chief executive
Non-standard insurance provider Acorn Group has seen its gross written premium (GWP) grow by 8% year-on-year to a group record £803m.

This is according to the firm’s latest full year results – released today (14 September 2026) and covering the full year to 31 December 2025 – which also revealed that the record income was driven in part by a 20% yearly growth in live policy count.
It added that its taxi, car, van and wholesale businesses each now generate over £150m in GWP.
Kyle Tyrrell, chief financial officer at Acorn Group, said the results showed the firm is “doing a great job supporting the growing number of drivers that sit outside mainstream motor markets”.
“As part of this, we’re pleased to have fully integrated My Policy into the group, confirming telematics as a fundamental part of our vision for the future. The continued growth of our recently launched Street Cover and Briefly brands are further proof that a one-size-fits all approach serves fewer drivers each year,” he added.
Commercial success
The group – which owns several non-standard brands including Acorn Insurance, Carrot, Motorcade and Granite Underwriting – also said its combined operating ratio (COR) had remained below 90% thanks to “consistent underwriting discipline and operational efficiency”.

Mike Lloyd, chief executive at Acorn Group, added: “Our 2025 performance reflects the exceptional efforts being carried out across the business by our 2,000 employees.
“Across every brand under the group, we have also proved that an agile, tech-based approach can deliver better products and better customer outcomes. In turn, this is delivering scalable commercial success. We have a pipeline of new and improved specialist products to be delivered in 2026.
“There are many reasons to be excited for our future. I’d like to thank every colleague for playing a role in our continued success.”
