The partnership offers a digital solution for policyholders needing professional advice from a vet for their pets

Pet insurance specialist – Animal Friends Insurance has announced its new partnership with Aviva that will enable policyholders to seek professional help for their pets during lockdown.

It was the result of a twelve-month tender process; and Animal Friends was selected by Aviva to provide and manage pet insurance policies for new customers.

Wes Pearson managing director at Animal Friends told Insurance Times: “Video veterinary consultations have very quickly become a vital service in current times. Pet owners can seek professional advice on any issue that can be treated safely at home, and avoid unnecessary trips to the vet, which would put both the public and veterinary professionals at unnecessary risk. Our customers have told us they appreciate the peace of mind the Joii app brings, knowing they can speak to a vet any time of day or night, at no extra cost.

“We are uniquely placed to offer owners the right insurance cover for their pet and at the same time helping animal charities worldwide, at no extra cost to the customer. To date, we have donated over £4m and will continue to support and raise awareness of animal welfare causes.”

New policy holders to Animal Friends will also receive complimentary access to an online veterinary service provider, Joii.

The features a free symptom checker, as well as video consultations with vets, and the addition of a range of health clinics with vet nurses to help owners receive information on topics from puppy and kittens through to weight management and dental checks.
