The new hire is part of the broker’s ‘continued focus to bring the best talent in the UK together’

Broker and professional services firm Aon has appointed former Willis Towers Watson (WTW) staffer Angela James in the newly created role of chief broking officer for commercial risk in the UK, effective from June 2022.

In this position, James will have responsibility for commercial risk within Aon’s Global Broking Centre (GBC) across London and the UK. She will work to help the firm build its broking strategy.

James will report to James Baum, Aon’s head of commercial risk in the UK.

Finding the ‘best talent’

James has 15 years of insurance industry experience, including knowledge of direct and facultative risk transfer solutions throughout the global marketplace.

She joins Aon from WTW, where she most recently worked as global property and casualty hub leader for its centres in London, Bermuda, Singapore and Shanghai. She initially started at WTW back in 2014.

Speaking on the appointment, Baum said: “Angela’s appointment is part of our continued focus to bring the best talent in the UK together to help our clients make better decisions in navigating their most difficult challenges.

“I’m looking forward to working with Angela as we expand our broking strategies across our retail, wholesale and specialisms in the London market.”
