’His understanding of the regulatory environment and impressive network within the insurance industry will be invaluable,’ says chief executive

Aspen Insurance Holdings has appointed Andrew Dyer as its chief risk officer for the UK, a statement released today (24 August 2023) revealed.

In his new role, Dyer, who has two decades of experience in risk management, governance and oversight for insurance, will be responsible for the (re)insurer’s risk framework across the UK.

This includes ensuring that supervision and risk controls are put in place across the business.

He will be based in London and report to Richard Milner, chief executive of Aspen UK.

“Andrew’s appointment demonstrates the importance we place in maintaining strong risk management and governance arrangements, as well as our commitment to continuing to build strong and open relationships with our regulators,” Milner said.

“Andrew’s deep understanding of the regulatory environment and impressive network within the insurance industry will be invaluable as we continue to build Aspen’s strong reputation in the market.”

Experience

Dyer will join Aspen UK in November from the Prudential Regulation Authority.

There, he was most recently head of division for London markets and was responsible for Lloyd’s and wholesale company markets.
