The new hire, starting in January, will have responsibility for Aviva’s international businesses in Europe and Asia

Insurer Aviva has appointed Adam Winslow in the newly created role of chief executive of international, to oversee Aviva’s operations in continental Europe and Asia.

Starting in January 2021, Winslow will join Aviva’s group executive committee and report to the insurer’s chief executive Amanda Blanc.

With more than two decades of experience in the international insurance industry, Winslow is currently chief executive of global life insurance at AIG.

As well as holding numerous chief executive positions at AIG during the course of his career, responsible for life insurance across a range of different markets, Winslow has also previously worked as director of partnerships and director of retail at Aviva UK.

Speaking on Winslow’s appointment, Blanc said: “I am determined to change Aviva and unlock value.

“This requires the strongest possible leadership team. Adam Winslow will bring focus and decisiveness as we manage our businesses in continental Europe and Asia for long-term shareholder value.”

In addition, Chris Wei, Aviva’s executive chairman for Asia, has decided to leave the company – he will remain with the business until the end of June 2021.

Blanc added: “I’d like to thank Chris Wei for his leadership of our Asian businesses over the last six years.

“Chris has been invaluable in our strategic review of Asia and will be leaving Aviva next year following the successful divestment of our Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong businesses. Chris leaves with our huge thanks and best wishes for the future.”
