’Their combined experience and insights will be hugely valuable as we look ahead to the opportunities and challenges for the industry over the coming years,’ says chair

The ABI has added Aviva chief executive Amanda Blanc and Axa chief executive Tara Foley to its board, said an announcement released yesterday (7 December 2023).

Clive Boulton, chief executive of M&G Life Insurance, has also joined the board.

Baroness Nicky Morgan, chair of ABI, commented: “We’re delighted Amanda Blanc is joining the ABI Board and look forward to welcoming Clive Bolton and Tara Foley.

“All three have previously worked closely with the ABI in past roles. Their combined experience and insights will be hugely valuable as we look ahead to the opportunities and challenges for the industry over the coming years.”

Replacement

Blanc has been appointed to replace Aviva’s previous ABI board representative Adam Winslow, who left Aviva earlier this year (30 August 2023) to become chief executive at Direct Line Group.

Amanda is also HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter Champion, a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Council and a non-executive director of BP.

She commented: “The role of the ABI has never been more important as our sector works together to support some of the most significant issues for the UK, from economic growth to future systemic risks.

“I’m looking forward to working with the ABI board at such a critical time.”

Foley and Boutlon

Meanwhile, Foley joined Axa earlier this year (20 July 2023) after almost three years as chief executive of Axa UK Retail.

She commented: “As the UK continues to experience extreme uncertainty, it’s never been more important for the insurance industry to work together and provide the resilience and protection to help people overcome the challenges they face.

“I am honoured to join the ABI board and I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members to address key industry issues and develop new opportunities that benefit both insurers and customers alike.”

Bouton has joined the ABI board after joining M&G in earlier this year in September 2023.

He commented: “I am looking forward to working with my colleagues on the board to ensure that the UK’s insurance industry continues to help people planning for their future grow their savings and investments.”
