’It’s great to be able to bring this really accessible format to our customers and the wider broker community,’ says marketing manager

Last week (7 August 2023), insurance software firm Open GI launched a new podcast for brokers.

Called a Digital Guide for Brokers, the podcast provides  advice and support for brokers on how to tackle the digital opportunity within general insurance (GI).

To do this, it will feature senior leaders at Open GI sharing first-hand experiences.

The initial six episodes are available on all major podcast platforms and a new 30-minute episode will be released every fortnight.

When asked how the idea for the podcast came about, Andrew Hearn, marketing manager at Open GI, told Insurance Times that Open GI realised that there “can be some hesitancy towards changing the digital landscape” after listening to the interests, challenges and experiences of its customers.

And with the popularity of podcasts growing, Hearn felt it was the right time to launch a podcast.

”I listen to podcasts a lot, so it’s great to be able to bring this really accessible format to our customers and the wider broker community.

”I’m usually walking the dog when I listen and it’s amazing how much information I can absorb while my rescue dog Harriet and I get our daily exercise.

”Clearly, many others find the format fits their busy lives too, with one in four (25.5%) UK adults listening to podcasts every week and 80% of those listeners tuning in to up to three episodes a week.

”We’re always keen to share the breadth of knowledge that’s held among our colleagues and we regularly create informative content that can be shared in blogs, webinars, emails and now podcasts too.”

Broker confidence

Hearn added that it was ”important for brokers to feel confident embracing digital ways of working at a pace that suits their business”.

”We know from talking with our broker community that while there are many market challenges that are universal, every business has its own priorities and strategy for digitalisation,” he said.

“We’ll be discussing everything, from the opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency and attracting and retaining talent to the role of enrichment services in reducing loss ratios and the prevention of fraud, cyber security, exciting developments in machine learning and the continuing importance of personal customer service.

”We’ve had a really positive reaction to our first episode and we can’t wait to bring listeners a cracking line up of guests during the rest of the series.”
