The new hire brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience to the team

BMS has appointed Eliot Powell as group chief commercial officer, effective from 21 March 2022.

The new appointee joins the business with more than 25 years of insurance industry experience – including establishing broker Powell Bateson, which was later sold to Howden in November 2014.

At Howden, Powell most recently served as global chief transformation officer, where he was responsible for developing the business’ digital strategy as well as overseeing the adoption of new ways of working.

In his new role, based in London, Powell aims to take a vital role in further expanding and delivering on BMS’ strategic business goals.

He will report to BMS chief executive Nick Cook.

New focus

Cook said: “Eliot is extremely talented, and I am pleased to welcome him to the BMS team.

“He will join the group executive committee and will focus on delivering our strategic goals, our continued digital transformation, and the company’s geographical expansion through M&A.

“He will be a valuable addition to BMS as we continue to grow.”

Powell added: “I am looking forward to working with BMS as the business looks to capitalise on the opportunities currently presenting themselves in the market.

“Nick and his team have created an established and profitable business and I am looking forward to contributing to BMS’ continued success.”
