The hire began her underwriting career at the firm back in 2008

Global speciality (re)insurer Canopius Group has appointed Claire Wallace as head of marine treaty, effective immediately.

The new hire rejoins the firm from Atrium, where, since 2014, she has held the title of marine reinsurance underwriter – writing the marine and energy excess loss account for both London and international clients.

Wallace began her underwriting career in 2008 at Canopius. Prior to this, she spent 18 years as a marine and energy reinsurance broker, most recently for Aon.

In her new role, based in London, she will be responsible for leading a team of global underwriters – writing marine and energy treaty reinsurance.

She will report to Canopius’ head of speciality reinsurance Chris Gray.

Gray said: “We are very pleased to have Claire leading our marine treaty team. She brings a wealth of experience to the role, ensuring we continue to offer the best service to our clients and brokers during this exciting phase for Canopius.”
