The new hire is ‘hugely experienced across the gamut of global (re)insurance’, says deputy chief executive

Global speciality (re)insurer Canopius Group has appointed Kate Roy as chief operating officer.

The new hire will assume her role in early 2022, reporting to deputy chief executive Neil Robertson.

Roy joins from Willis Towers Watson, where she has worked as chief operating officer for Great Britain and Willis since 2015. She also previously held senior positions at finance and insurance company AIG, as well as Capita Insurance Services.

Roy, who has 33 years of experience, has a proven track record of leading and delivering complex operational solutions in business units across multiple geographies.

She is also an advocate for technological and digital solutions, having been on the Placing Platform Limited (PPL) board since the platform’s inception in 2016. PPL is an electronic placing platform for the London market.

Robertson said: “Kate is hugely experienced across the gamut of global (re)insurance, with a firm understanding of our business and the markets we operate in.

“Kate will help shape our future operating model and her energy and enthusiasm will be an asset to our positive, distinctive culture and will undoubtably help us realise Canopius’ future ambition.”
