The new Atlanta appointments will be effective from 15 May

Claims management and outsourcing business Crawford and Company has had a senior leadership reshuffle in Atlanta, moving current global chief operating officer Rohit Verma into the position of chief executive, while Joseph Blanco, general counsel, will become the firm’s president, both effective from 15 May after the company’s scheduled annual shareholders meeting.

Harsha Agadi has been serving as Crawford and Company’s chief executive and president for the past five years, however he will be transitioning into a board position as director.

Speaking on the US-based leadership changes, Agadi said: “After approximately 10 years on the Crawford board, I continue to be truly excited about the company and its future as the next generation of leadership with seasoned and client-centric leaders, like Rohit and Joseph, take over Crawford and Company. I am humbled by the board’s invitation to continue to serve on the board of the company.

“Rohit’s passion for clients and employees, combined with a strategic sense of purpose and innovation, is a rare combination to have in a leader in our industry and it is the right moment for him to lead Crawford and Company.”

Next generation

The firm’s upcoming chief executive Verma has been with Crawford and Company for almost three years – he joined in July 2017 from Zurich Insurance. He will continue to be based in Atlanta.

“I feel privileged to be given an opportunity to lead this iconic organisation,” Verma said. “Harsha has created a unique platform for us to continue building on his strategic vision and customer led approach to deliver on our mission globally. I want to thank Harsha for his leadership, mentorship and guidance.”

Blanco, on the other hand, has been at Crawford and Company for nearly four years. As president, he will report to Verma and take responsibility for all shared service functions within the organisation, excepting the chief financial officer function.

Prior to Crawford and Company, Blanco was the managing partner at international law firm Dentons.

He said: “I am honoured to serve in this leadership role partnering with Rohit to execute on our mission of restoring and enhancing lives, business and communities.

“I look forward to working with our global team to utilise our eight decades of experience and capabilities to deliver on our mission in evolving and creative ways.”
